Experience affects perception and vice versa. Humans are exceptionally skilled at learning from observation. However, when we experience a concept for the first time, we try to make sense of it by comparing it to a similar and familiar experience. Piaget, the famous developmental psychologist, would call this Assimilation.
While at work today in the midst of one of our random and diverse conversations, a kind and learned young man asked if we were familiar with the poem, “Desiderata”
